A Typical Day in Reach Out (RO)
By Dennis, RO

A typical day starts on a sunny Saturday afternoon. After a week of work and school, volunteers and members come together on this day to meet up with friends and to let their hair down.

The day started with lots of smiles and "Hi-howare- you?" as everyone is eager to find out what their friends have been up to over the week. The feeling is not unlike family members coming back home for a weekend gathering. After the small talk, the various program group leaders will go off and get ready for the day's activities.

Members will get to display their artistic talents in Personal Development where the group leader, with the help of fellow volunteers will guide members through steps of doing some basic art and crafts. For the more sporty members, there's always the sports segment where they can play a variety of games such as street soccer, badminton

During tea break, healthy snacks are served and this is the time when volunteers will mingle with members. On the first week of the month, there will be a little celebration for all the birthday babies born in that month.

Then it's off to Integration Programmes. Members are taught basic skills like time and money concepts so that they can be more independent and blend in with society. These are taught in a fun and informal manner to make it more interesting for the members.

After all the sitting around, the members are getting all hyped up for Team Activities where they can sweat it out in the various games and telematches prepared by the team leader and volunteers.
