History of RO

The planning stage began in November 1985 when basic information regarding the prospects of the project were collected. A committee was organised and the volunteers made to undergo training for a month according to the requirements of the project. A survey was conducted in the first three month of 1986 in which volunteers visited the homes of the intellectually disabled and compiled information on their family backgrounds as well as their personal interests. This was to assist in the planning of the programmes and budget, and also to prepare the volunteers for their clients' expectations about the services to be provided. All information was compiled and by April 1986, coordination for an orientation programme at East Coast Parkway on April 13th had been completed. The year plan was thus finalised and the project began functioning in May 1986.

Our mission is to assist the members to integrate into the society and impart skills for independent living.
