Venue: Lee Kong Chian Gardens School (LGS). 802 Margaret Drive, Singapore 149311

A continuation of the MINDS MYG VA Activity 1 - Inter-project Bowling.
Inter-project games will start at 13:00 in Lee Kong Chian Gardens School (LGS) next door. The pairings for the games are as follows:
BKTG + TH
RO + Guilly
FV + WE
AMK + CW
RSPID + EP

We hope to see all projects there!

MYG Challenge Q&A:

What is this MYG Challenge?

It is a restructured series of our usual inter-project VA activities targeted at encouraging mingling and bonding between volunteers of MINDS MYG projects.

What is in it for us as volunteers?

The Challenge is meant to provide a platform for friendly competition among our volunteers without having to bring our clients into the picture. However, to stay relevant to us being a part of MYG which includes our valued clients, we're in the midst of getting MINDS' assistance in lining up prizes. Based on availability and also the eventual rankings of our projects, prizes will be awarded to share with clients during project sessions.

What are the pairings about?

Each leg of the Challenge (and we are planning 3) will see our 10 (8+2 autonomous) projects drawn into 5 pairs randomly. This is the furthest attempt we as organisers will take (as of now) to encourage inter-project mingling. Each game will see two projects contributing to the team representing them. Of course, we encourage further mingling while you're there!

How are the points tabulated?

Being the maiden 'season' of this restructured Challenge aiming to inject some continuity in future, the scoring system is still under testing. Each project will have points awarded during every leg of the Challenge, paired with different projects, over the year. The score for each project will be summed up at the end of the year. Each Win gives 20 points, each Draw 15, and every Loss 10.

How often are these legs held?

We will have one activity per quarter. The first was a low-key introduction of this Challenge in May and the last activity was MYG Bowling last quarter. Depending on the organising group each year, the activities may differ year to year.

How do I participate in MYG Challenge?

Just sign up with your respective project!

Any queries, feel free to send me an email.

ACID Camp 2011 - CAMP ROCK!

(8 Admiralty Road East Singapore 759991)

Where all MYG projects will come under one roof for a 2 Day 1 Night camp.
Definitely, the Event to look forward to!

As the theme "Camp Rock" suggests, there will be lots of music and dance throughout the camp.

Why Camp Rock?
The music Rocks!
The programs Rocks!
The campsite Rocks! Literally lots of rocks and pebbles around the campsite!

Look out for more updates on ACID Camp 's blog:
acidcamp.blogspot.com.

Words from MINDS MYG Chairperson:
One of the most memorable moments of ACID was when the power tripped before disco night and yet our trainees, Volunteers and the volunteer guitar connection continued singing and dancing. The electric atmosphere captured the essence of this year's ACID - daring to try out new activities and improvising wherever necessary. There were many firsts too, including the mass cupcake making, campfire and involvement of many external volunteers. I overheard one of the ROvers asking an MYG volunteer what it is like to be a volunteer and what do we do on a weekly basis. Another volunteer SMSed after the camp to say that he wants to be an MYG volunteer as well and is already looking forward to next year's camp. They were moved by the warmth and friendship that they experienced.

I would say that many of us had our apprehensions when first informed about the venue. But the ACID committee and all the other volunteers have done an excellent job in organising one of the most unusual camps ever. Really touched as well by all the project volunteers who spontaneously helped out in their own way.

Thanks to each and every trainee and volunteer who have contributed to making ACID 2011 so fun and rewarding. As volunteers, the care of our trainees must always be our top priority and it is good to remind ourselves that even though the good we do today might be forgotten tomorrow, it doesn't matter. We should still continue to do our best.

TRACE NDP Fireworks Viewing

posted Aug 2, 2011 3:30 AM by MINDSMYG Webmaster   [ updated Aug 2, 2011 7:43 AM ]

Event: TRACE NDP Fireworks Viewing 2011
Date : 30 July 2011
Time : 1630-2100 hrs
Venue: One Fullerton Rooftop

A special event organised annually by Terra Hope (TH) Project. This was the first time that this event was upgraded to inter-project level, as TH invited RO, AMK, CW and EP projects, bringing a total of 200 trainees, caregivers and volunteers to One Fullerton Rooftop. TRACE stands for TH, RO, AMK, CW and EP collectively.

The location of the rooftop was simply awesome, allowing a superb view of the Marina Bay area and NDP platform, keeping all of us busy clicking our cameras. We had a great time soaking ourselves in the pre-National Day celebration, enjoying the parachute display by the Red Lions, flag-carrying Chinook accompanied by Apache helicopters and the aerial display of F15 fighter planes. With the million-dollar-view of the spectacular fireworks lighting up the whole sky, excitement and happiness were written over the faces of our participants. Our trainees obviously enjoyed themselves, as their jubilation lasted long after the fireworks display.

A Big Thank You to our Sponsor: The Fullerton Heritage for generously providing the venue!
