posted Nov 16, 2017, 11:20 AM by MINDS MYG   [ updated Nov 16, 2017, 11:27 AM by MINDS MYG Family Day ]

Date: 25 Nov 2017 (Sat)
Time: 9am to 4pm
Venue: MINDS HQ Level 6 seminar room

Given the diverse abilities and interests of the clients at MINDS MYG, it can be challenging for volunteers to plan different activities to engage every member in activities. Through Universal Design, the volunteers will be encouraged to consider or include multiple ways in which the clients with diverse abilities can engage in learning, be resourceful and show what they can do or already know.

During the workshop, volunteers will be guided in designing activities to enable reciprocal engagement with the clients with disabilities using the principles of Universal Design. As a conclusion to the session there will be case discussions through a collaborative discussion to design programme and services suitable for PWDs.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Identify individual differences in the clients in order to elicit interest and preferences that will bring about their dignity

2. Integrate learning and engagement opportunities through the elements of Universal Design

3. Utilise the concept of person, task and environment to design programme and services for PWDs
